Profile
John O'Brien is senior vice president of public policy and external affairs for Energy Future Holdings Corp., a Dallas-based energy company with a portfolio of competitive and regulated businesses, including TXU Energy, Luminant and Oncor. He oversees enterprise-wide public affairs and leads EFH's efforts to publicly demonstrate and communicate the corporation's leadership in the energy industry.

O'Brien previously served as senior vice president of government and regulatory affairs for NRG Energy. Prior to joining NRG in 2007, O'Brien held the position of vice president of environmental and regulatory affairs for Exelon Power, a subsidiary of Exelon Corporation, one of the nation's largest electric companies. Earlier, he worked for Sithe Energies as head of regulatory affairs and government relations. Before joining the energy industry, O'Brien was a Massachusetts state senator from 1993 to 1998 and also legal counsel to the Massachusetts Senate Committee on Ways and Means from 1985 to 1987 and again from 1988 to 1992.

Education
O'Brien received his bachelor's degree in international relations from Brown University. He earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School.
