Profile
John F. Young is president and CEO of Energy Future Holdings Corp., a Dallas-based energy company with a portfolio of competitive and regulated businesses, including TXU Energy, Luminant and Oncor.

Prior to joining EFH, Young was executive vice president of finance and markets at Exelon Corporation, one of the nation's largest electric companies. He was responsible for the entire financial organization, including the controller, treasury, planning, investor relations, corporate development, risk management, tax, audit and controls functions. At the same time, he also led the trading and marketing organization, the Power Team. The Power Team was responsible for portfolio optimization, fuels management, wholesale marketing and Exelon Energy, the corporation's unregulated retail energy marketing entity in the Midwest.

Young's previous leadership responsibilities at Exelon included the role of president of Exelon Generation, where he managed the company's nuclear, fossil and hydro operations as well as the Power Team. He joined Exelon Power in March 2003 as chief operating officer and was named president of the operating unit in May 2003.

Prior to Exelon, Young was senior vice president at Sierra Pacific Resources Corporation with responsibilities for the operation of the company's fossil and hydro facilities. From 1983 until 2000, he rose through the ranks at Southern Company, then America's largest electric utility. His last position at Southern was executive vice president of Southern Generation, the largest wholesale energy provider in the Southeast.

Young joined Southern after serving five years in the U.S. Navy, including a tour as engineering officer of the guided missile cruiser USS Ticonderoga.

Young serves on the boards of directors of the Edison Electric Institute, Nuclear Energy Institute and Children's Medical Center. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Petroleum Council, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Dallas Roundtable, Bush Clinton Coastal Recovery Fund, Texas Business Leadership Council, Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce and Dallas Citizens Council.

Education
In 1978, Young received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Young and his family reside in Dallas.
