Energy Future Holdings Announces Sustainable Energy Advisory Board
DALLAS, TX -

Board members will provide input from environmental, economic, customer, reliability and technology viewpoints

Energy Future Holdings (EFH) today announced the formation of the Sustainable Energy Advisory Board (SEAB), fulfilling a commitment to create an advisory board comprised of individuals with deep knowledge of the issues affecting the environment, customers, Texas economic development, and reliability/technology interests.

EFH was formerly known as TXU Corp. before the company was acquired by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., TPG, Goldman Sachs and other investors last October. In connection with the acquisition, EFH and its subsidiary companies made a range of commitments aimed at providing a more affordable, more reliable, more environmentally friendly and more sustainable supply of energy to the citizens of Texas.

The SEAB will be chaired by EFH board member William Reilly, Chairman Emeritus of the World Wildlife Fund and former EPA Administrator, and will be comprised of eight additional members. Two members have been selected to represent each key stakeholder group.

“I am proud to announce the formation of the Sustainable Energy Advisory Board,” said John F. Young, CEO of EFH. “Under the leadership of William Reilly, the SEAB will be a strong voice for the communities and constituencies served by EFH and its subsidiaries.”

“I believe EFH will benefit from the knowledge and experience of each of these members, and the creation of the SEAB will allow for constructive discussion regarding the policies and practices of Energy Future Holdings,” said Reilly. “The formation of this board demonstrates EFH's commitment to doing business in a collaborative manner with interested stakeholders.”

The following members will serve on the SEAB:

Ralph Cavanagh, Senior Attorney and Co-Director of Natural Resources Defense Council's Energy Program

Cavanagh joined NRDC in 1979. He has been a visiting professor of law at Stanford University and at Boalt Hall, the law school at the University of California, Berkeley. From 1993 to 2003 he served as a member of the U.S. Secretary of Energy's Advisory Board.

Reginald Gates, President & COO, Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce

Gates leads the efforts of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce working to create business opportunities for local African Americans and assist with urban revitalization through business and economic development.

Karen Johnson, President & CEO, United Ways of Texas

Johnson brings a wealth of experience in law, government and private industry that define her leadership, including service as the first woman executive director of the State Bar of Texas, a special assistant in the Texas Governor's office and assistant comptroller for legal services in the State Comptroller's office. As past president of Entergy Texas, Johnson had the opportunity to know first-hand how entrepreneurial activities impact business and industry as well as our state and communities.

Sam Jones, Former ERCOT President & CEO

Jones has been active in inter-utility reliability work for over 25 years. He is a two-time past chair of the ERCOT Operating Subcommittee and the current chair of the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) Operating Committee. Jones has also chaired or participated in numerous NERC and ERCOT committees and task forces.

Specker has an exceptionally strong technical and business background and an in-depth and highly respected knowledge of the electricity enterprise. His 37-year career has spanned nearly every dimension of the business.

Phil Wilson, Texas Secretary of State

Texas Gov. Rick Perry named Phil Wilson as Texas' 106th Secretary of State in June 2007. Before that, Wilson served as deputy chief of staff for Governor Perry, and oversaw the governor's initiatives in economic development, job creation, federal funding issues, military base realignment and closure, and policy development.

A member with deep knowledge of issues affecting industrial customers will be selected in consultation with the Texas Association of Manufacturers and appointed in the coming weeks.
