Commitment to Low-Income Assistance
EFH is on track with its $150 million commitment over five years for low-income assistance designed to keep TXU Energy the market leader in helping customers in need pay their bills. TXU Energy's best-in-class programs are highlighted below.
TXU Energy AidSM
TXU Energy's flagship program is the largest bill payment assistance program in the nation among electricity providers. For more than 28 years, TXU Energy AidSM has provided more than $66 million to help more than 390,000 valued customers in temporary financial need pay their electric bills.
TXU Energy Low Income Assistance Program
TXU Energy is investing $25 million per year through 2012 in a special year-round low-income discount program. TXU Energy is the only retail electric company in Texas that voluntarily provides an approximate 10 percent discount for participating low-income customers. This discount is in addition to the one provided by the State of Texas' System Benefit Fund through the LITE UP Texas program.
Low-Income Advisory Committee
Established in 2008, the Low-Income Advisory Committee is charged with helping TXU Energy identify challenges faced by low-income customers and advising the company as it develops effective solutions.
TXU Energy Low-Income Energy Efficiency Assistance Program
This statewide energy efficiency program is part of TXU Energy's overall commitment to invest $100 million in energy efficiency and conservation programs. The initiative is endorsed by the company's Low Income Advisory Committee, which helps identify energy solutions for low-income customers. Energy Assistance Workshops
For close to a decade, TXU Energy has hosted energy assistance workshops for hundreds of social service organizations statewide to provide education and training regarding electric service and assistance plans, especially TXU Energy's programs.
Energy Conservation Kit Donations
TXU Energy donates energy conservation kits, which contain simple and low cost energy saving tools, to partnering social service organizations to better assist TXU Energy customers with lowering their electric costs and conserving energy. These conservation kits contain energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs, caulking, foam insulator light switch and receptacle plates, outlet plugs, weather stripping and more.
