Award-Winning Land Reclamation

For 40 years, Luminant has set the standard in restoring the land after mining. Even before federal and state laws were written, Luminant was committed to advancing the science of land reclamation, as evidenced by nearly 90 reclamation awards, including an unprecedented five Director's Awards, the most prestigious honor in the industry, from the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of Surface Mining.

Reforesting Texas

The EFH companies are doing their part to make Texas a leafier place. Luminant has planted over 31 million trees on its mined lands with the aim of renewing Texas woodlands.

Urban Trees

Doing its part to forest the cities and as part of its community commitment, TXU Energy, along with employee volunteers, partners with the Texas Trees Foundation to help maintain the TXU Energy Urban Tree Farm and Education Center, the largest such nonprofit resource in the nation, which provides trees to organizations and municipalities throughout Texas. Since 2002, TXU Energy and other community organizations have donated their time and efforts to plant more than 166,000 trees across Texas.

Caring for Trees

Oncor's award-winning vegetation management has been honored each year since 2001 with the National Arbor Day Foundation's Tree Line USA award for leadership in quality tree-care practices, which includes Know Before You Grow, a program that help consumers plant trees compatible with power lines.

Oncor Bird Rescue

Oncor partners with the Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Hutchins, Texas, to rescue and remove birds that have nested in Oncor's equipment.
