EFH seeks to meet the electric power needs of Texas in an environmentally sustainable fashion. EFH's environmental stewardship statement and environmental initiatives provide an overview of the corporation's commitment to environmental leadership.
Sustainable Energy Advisory Board
EFH gives voice to the communities and constituencies it serves through a unique Sustainable Energy Advisory Board of individuals with deep knowledge of the issues affecting the environment, customers, economic development and reliability and technology interests.
Green Initiatives
Energy Future Holdings strives to be a leader in environmental stewardship and the corporation and its businesses are focused on a number of Green initiatives. They include creating environmentally friendly workplaces:
- Energy Plaza, the home office for EFH, has earned the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) distinction. EFH has also been recognized with the Mayor's Environmental Excellence Award from the mayor of Dallas and the EPA ENERGY STAR® award for environmental awareness and energy efficiency at Energy Plaza.
- TXU Energy's corporate headquarters in Irving has earned both the US Environmental Protection Agency's prestigious ENERGY STAR designation, signifying the building's energy performance rates in the top 25 percent nationwide, as well as silver-level certification through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. TXU Energy also earned the Innovative Employer of the Year award in 2009 and the Clean Air Champion award in both 2009 and 2010 from the North Texas Clean Air Coalition.
- Luminant Academy, Luminant's premier training facility, has obtained LEED certification, making it the first LEED-certified facility in Tyler, Texas.
