Commitment to Energy Efficiency
As part of its commitments, EFH is investing at least $400 million over five years in energy efficiency, technology, and conservation programs at TXU Energy and Oncor to help customers better manage their energy consumption and reduce demand, benefiting the environment and consumers. The major initiatives are listed below.
TXU Energy Efficiency Tools
TXU Energy is dedicating $100 million to develop innovative energy efficiency and conservation products and services that will help customers and help the Texas environment. A free weekly email service option for TXU Energy customers who have a smart meter. It contains valuable information that can help customers understand how much electricity they use, when they use it most, and how outside temperature can affect their usage.

TXU Energy experts provide residential and business consumers with detailed energy audits and basic information on ways to reduce energy consumption and lower electricity bills.
Home Energy Makeovers
TXU Energy partners with local youth groups and senior volunteer organizations to promote awareness of energy efficiency and help low-income customers in need of energy assistance in the unique Home Energy Makeover program.
Beat the Heat
For a decade, TXU Energy has joined forces with Texas community organizations to promote ways that customers can Beat the Heat during the summer. This statewide initiative promotes heat safety awareness and energy efficiency for the most at-risk customers.
Become Your Own Personal Energy Manager Workshops

Holiday Cents
With the Holiday Cents initiative, TXU Energy partners with various city and neighborhood organizations, local community businesses and social service organizations statewide. In conjunction with partnering organizations, TXU Energy offers consumers sensible, low-cost energy conservation tips throughout the winter holiday season when electric bills tend to increase as a result of holiday decorating, holiday cooking and extreme changes in temperatures.
Oncor's Energy Efficiency Programs
Oncor is committed to helping Texans become more energy-efficient. As part of that commitment, Oncor operates one of the nation's foremost energy efficiency programs with a variety of incentive programs for homes, businesses, government, schools and nonprofits. Take A Load Off, Texas®
To help encourage energy efficiency, and "take a load off" the power grid, Oncor is getting the message out through Take A Load Off, Texas®. This outreach program informs consumers across Oncor's service territory about all the company's programs for homes, business, governments, schools and nonprofits. The innovative program includes a mobile exhibit that travels throughout Oncor's service area with interactive displays and information on programs for energy audits, lighting, solar power, appliances, air conditioning, insulation and much, much more.
Oncor's Next Generation Network
Oncor is integrating the world's most advanced energy management technology into its electric delivery system and setting new standards for energy management. For consumers, "smart meters" give them greater control over how and when they use electricity. For Oncor, the technology deployment improves reliability and reduces outage duration. Biggest Energy SaverSM
In 2011, Oncor and CenterPoint Eergy announced they will be supporting the Biggest Energy SaverSM Campaign. The Biggest Energy Saversm Campaign will encourage the development of new software applications to help customers easily understand and use information from their new smart meters. It will also encourage customers to make the most of their smart meter data by changing their habits to reduce their energy usage and control their electric costs.
