150-Plus Miles Covered to Support Bike MS
Nearly 120 employees, family members and friends kept their wheels turning for a good cause this past weekend, riding more than 150 miles during the annual National Multiple Sclerosis Society Bike Ride. As the largest team in the company’s history, employees have already raised nearly $70,000 to support the fight against multiple sclerosis, with a goal of $100,000 by the end of the summer.
“Since 2003, I have had the opportunity to lead our bike team and it’s been motivating to see new people take on the challenge as we build our rider retention,” said Angela Tortorice, team captain and Luminant senior derivative accountant. “We work for a great company that supports and believes in this cause. We are so thankful for all of the riders, volunteers and management team for their continued involvement, commitment and support for the team.”
Riding under the TXU Energy banner, employees completed an 88-mile ride on day one, riding from Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco to Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. Riders crossed the finish line on day two after a 66-mile trek through North Texas.
“It’s exciting to be a part of a dedicated team and know that we’re benefiting others,” shared John Ozmun, lead volunteer and TXU Energy marketing manager. “I’ve participated in the event for the past nine years and I look forward to many more in the years to come.”
