EFH was honored with the Spirit of Caring Award, the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ most prestigious award, at Tuesday night’s Heroes of Hope awards dinner. The Spirit of Caring award is given to the company that best “lives” the spirit of United Way during the annual campaign and throughout the year. The 2012 United Way/TXU Energy AidSM campaign raised more than $2 million employee dollars, a nearly 20 percent increase from the year before. EFH also increased its participation with 200 additional donors.

The record-setting United Way and TXU Energy AidSM campaign was also recognized for its leadership support, campaign organization, corporate match and day-of-caring projects throughout the year with United Way service providers. The campaign leadership team and nearly 250 campaign volunteers pulled together to lead this extraordinary campaign effort.

“I am extremely grateful to be part of a campaign that exemplifies our company and culture,” said Michael Fischer, EFH United Way campaign chair and VP, organization development and talent management. “Our volunteers and employees really made the difference – their hard work and open hearts led to the campaign’s success. I’m proud of our commitment to the community and humbled by employees’ generosity.”

The EFH 2012 campaign also received Pacesetter LIVE UNITED and Outstanding Leadership Campaign awards from United Way and was recognized for raising more than $1 million.

EFH has a legacy of giving generously to the communities it serves. Since 2000, EFH and its family of companies have raised more than $21 million for United Way through employee and corporate gifts. In addition, since 1983 employees and customers have given $66 million to TXU Energy AidSM, helping more than 390,000 customers across Texas pay their energy bills.

United Way works with its partners to deliver hundreds of programs and services that target community needs, specifically those supporting the building blocks for a good life: quality education, financial stability and sound mental and physical health. Similarly, for more than 27 years, TXU Energy AidSM has served as a community partner, helping organizations provide financial assistance for customers who are unable to pay their electric bills.
