The National Diversity Council selected Howard for her leadership and strong community involvement

carla-howard-ndc-stories-landingCarla Howard, vice president and general tax counsel of Energy Future Holdings, was recently selected as one of the 2012 Most Powerful & Influential Women of Texas by the National Diversity Council. The annual award recognizes Texas women who display leadership excellence, demonstrate a commitment to the community and have sustained a record of notable accomplishments throughout their careers. Howard was recognized on April 5 at the council’s 8th Annual Diversity and Leadership Conference in Dallas.

Howard’s selection for this prestigious award is a direct result of her dedication to developing and mentoring talent within EFH, as well as her countless business and community contributions. Howard joined EFH in 2004, bringing more than 20 years of experience as a practicing tax attorney.

She has advanced her passion for diversity and inclusion within EFH by launching a grassroots effort to mentor and develop women leaders. Outside EFH, Carla co-founded and serves as a board member for The Board Connection, a nonprofit organization seeking to increase the number of women serving on corporate boards and in the executive suite through programs designed to connect, influence and develop women professionals.

The National Diversity Council selects outstanding women leaders in business, higher education and the public sector from across the state for this annual award based on criteria that reflect the council’s mission to be both a resource and an advocate for the value of diversity and inclusion.
