New Year Brings Improved Service and New Jobs to Texas

TXU Energy To Open Call Centers in Abilene and Lubbock

TXU Energy, the #1 choice among electricity providers in Texas, announced today that it is opening customer call centers in Abilene and Lubbock.

“The new call centers will allow the company to respond better to our customers,” says David Hennekes, vice president for residential markets, TXU Energy.

“Equally important is the fact that this means jobs for Texans,” Hennekes said. “TXU Energy has a long history of job creation in this state, and, especially in our current economy, this is another important chapter in that history.”

In conjunction with the added jobs at the company’s existing call center in Irving, the move creates approximately 500 jobs across the state to help support its best in class customer service.

“I’m thrilled to hear more jobs will come to the 19th District,” said Congressman Randy Neugebauer, whose district includes both Abilene and Lubbock. “I hope the creation of jobs in our area will continue, and help build momentum in other areas of the country that are hurting because of job loss.”

“TXU Energy’s announcement demonstrates that we have skilled people, the resources and the tools to attract strong diverse companies to do business here and create jobs,” State Senator Troy Fraser, whose district includes Abilene.

“What a great addition to the economy for Abilene and the citizens of West Texas,” said State Representative Susan King. “I applaud TXU for providing local customer service for their consumers by opening call centers within the region they serve.”

The new call centers are another critical step forward in improving TXU Energy’s customer service. The company has already made significant investments in award-winning technology over the past several years to improve the customer experience.

“Upgrading our IT systems has already enabled our call center agents to respond more quickly to customers when they need to talk to us directly,” said Hennekes. “These centers in Texas will enable us to respond even better.”
