Company Provides Snapshot of Spending Trends Using Cash Back
Extra cash is good for consumers and the Texas economy, according to TXU Energy. This year, the company is celebrating five years of giving back to its customers through the TXU Energy Cash Back Loyalty Reward program. Hundreds of thousands of TXU Energy customers participate in the program, which gives them back a percentage of their annual electricity bills via a Visa® prepaid card.
This year alone, more than $36 million in cash rewards is on its way to people across Texas. This kind of extra spending power is a positive for participating customers and for the Texas economy — especially if last year’s trends continue. The company developed a snapshot of last year’s spending trends to highlight this via txu.com/rewardsused.
“Last year, our Cash Back Loyalty Reward Program helped put more than $30 million back into the hands of our customers, which helped support the Texas economy,” said Michael Grasso, chief marketing officer, TXU Energy. “We’re very proud of this as not only does the cash back help customers who participate in these plans, it also supports the communities where they live and work each time they swipe one of the prepaid cards for a retail purchase.”
According to Grasso, only time will tell how the 2012 cash rewards distribution will impact consumer spending, but the potential support for the state’s economy won’t end with this year’s Cash Back Loyalty Rewards payout. In 2012, the company launched new plans that keep the opportunities alive for 2013.
When TXU Energy launched cash back loyalty rewards in 2007, it became the first electricity provider to provide a cash back loyalty reward program based on customers’ annual electricity purchases. With this year’s cash back payout, the company has distributed a total of more than $100 million in cash back to participating customers.
