DALLAS – On the first anniversary of its corporate-wide volunteer program, Energy in Action, TXU Energy introduced a new Community Time Off (CTO) policy that grants employees time away from the office to give back in their communities.
Since last April’s launch of the community service–focused Energy in Action program, employees volunteered thousands of hours in the communities where they work and live. The rollout of the company’s CTO policy, which coincides with National Volunteer Month, facilitates and encourages even more opportunities to get involved in local charitable programs.
“Our employees have great passion for – and a long history of – giving back,” said Andrea Pelosi, director at TXU Energy and overall chair of Energy in Action. “It is just as important to us that we volunteer in the communities we live in and work in as it is for us to serve our customers every day.”
CTO gives full-time employees up to eight hours of time off during business hours each year to volunteer in a community-centered program of their choice. Participation in the Energy in Action program and CTO policy is voluntary and free.

TXU Energy maintains an internal calendar for employees to browse and sign up for events throughout the year, and employees are also encouraged to submit their own ideas and opportunities through organizations they already volunteer with or are particularly passionate about.
