TXU Energy Receives Recognition for Bike MS Participation

Every year, nearly one hundred employees from Energy Future Holdings, TXU Energy and Luminant join forces on the TXU Energy team and cycle towards a cure for Multiple Sclerosis during the annual Bike MS event.

Led by team captains Angela Tortorice and John Ozmun, this year’s TXU Energy Bike MS team was honored during the recent Bike MS Awards event at Union Station in Dallas. The team was awarded Best Team Tent for 2011. The team was also recognized as a Gold Level sponsor of the Bike MS ride and for having “above average fundraising dollars/riders.”

“I began riding as a challenge to myself, but quickly learned that the better reason was to help others with this horrible disease,” said Ozmun. “I also learned that the bike riders provide most of the research funding for MS, so the funds we raise really have a direct benefit to those with the disease.”

Over the last five years, TXU Energy Bike MS team has raised over $500,000 for the MS Society.

“We want to continue to build on the legacy of the past and shoot to raise the total to over $1 million over the next four to five years,” said Ozmun.

In years past, the team has also won numerous awards for its participation in the event, such as Top Fundraising Team and Best Veteran Team Captain.
