TXU Energy Employees Donate Warm Winter Coats to TXU Energy Aid Partner
“This is such a great help.” “There are so many people who need these coats.” “There are so many coats!” “Thank you!” These were just some of the comments TXU Energy’s Patrick Johnson and Vonetta Perry heard as they delivered new and gently-used coats to Mission Arlington, a TXU Energy Aid partner.
In its second year, TXU Energy employees donated 150 coats. With cold temperatures just around the corner, the coats will come in handy for those in need.
The idea of a coat drive came out of Vonetta’s personal needs as a little girl growing up in Los Angeles.
Reflecting on those times, she commented, “I really didn’t need a heavy winter coat. There were times, however, when my family accepted donations from area churches. We would donate items and we would accept items. Those experiences always stayed with me.”
She continued. “Donating coats is one of the easiest things you can do. People always have coats hidden in the back of their closets so it’s real easy to go through their items and bring in what they no longer use to give to someone else.”
Tillie Burgin, the executive director of Mission Arlington agrees.
“The gifts from TXU Energy will really help those in need, especially during the winter season. Thank you so much for sponsoring a coat drive and bringing the coats collected to Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex.”
